Wind of change

It was not the first Monday when our brothers in Christ Fermin and Anwa with their friends come to give the whole school a God-inspired message to kick off the week with. Our learners love it even more, because the testimony comes from people of almost the same age group.

When I taught at Langeberg Secondary a couple of years ago, Anwa was in 10F, and I was his English teacher. Naughty is not a good word to describe him in the past. The cause of many a teacher's headache, Anwa has undergone a complete transformation after inviting Jesus into his life as his Lord and Saviour.

In the photo, you see rows of children sitting on the ground (we don't have an appropriate assembly facility yet), all of them well-clad in their tidy school uniforms. But do you see how many of these children don't have a father to support them, or somebody in their lives who really cares? Do you see how many of them are broken, abused, mistreated or even hungry? You'll never know, unless you take a step towards them.

I was humbled to see how many learners lifted their hands in response to a call by Fermin. Joy came into my heart after I witnessed the Spirit of God, working in the minds of children.

We have this huge hope that the blessings of the Lord will come down on our school abundantly in every way.

"I can definitely feel the wind of change," said John Hull on another occasion to the staff. What is happening every Monday is definitely part of it. What stands behind it, is the reason for it...
